Day 15 – 2025-05-22

(Written on the evening of Day 17)

Weight: 285.4 lbs / 129.5 kgs

Dose: 2.5mg @ 8pm

1.4lbs / .6kg down this week. That doesn’t sound great but… I’m just not poopin’.

Last Friday night I was horribly ill, poopin’ and vomiting all night (I assume from Mounjaro but who knows), and I lost about 2kg. It was a good ol’ clear out, for sure. And naturally as I ate again that weight came back. But from Saturday morning until about Thursday I didn’t shit at all.

I’ve bought some fibre tablets to see if that helps, and I need to ensure I get more fibre in my diet. I’m not yet tracking calories, let alone macros, so I need to get on top of that as well.

But this is a marathon not a sprint, not least because a sprint would kill me lol.

On to next week!

Day 08 – 2025-05-15

(Written on the morning of Day 09)

Weight: 286.8 lbs / 130.1 kgs

Dose: 2.5mg @ 6pm

First week done, and 5lbs / 2.3kg down.

The first week was actually quite nice; I had mild suppression throughout – I didn’t think about food constantly, but I did think about how I wasn’t thinking about it – and few side effects other than a little nausea and tummy problems on Monday (day 05).

My second jab last night was easy, and I wake up the morning after just thirsty as usual for a morning, but not thinking about breakfast.

Overall, it’s not as dramatic as I’d heard as far as suppression go – there didn’t feel like a switch being flicked, it’s just a nice little bit of mental freedom where my mind isn’t just looking for the next snacky-snack. I was feeling the thoughts creeping back a bit yesterday through the day, and I am guessing I’ll just need to get used to that on the day of my next injection, pre-shot.

Overall, I’m enjoying this.

The Start

Well, it’s day 1. About 40 minutes ago I took my first dose (2.5mg) of Mounjaro, after months of reading about it, seeing success stories (and stories of people feeling absolutely awful…), talking to a friend who herself had a great result from it, and then talking to my diabetic clinician. She happily prescribed it to me, and being on the NHS in the UK it’s not costing me anything – even better!

My goal weight is 85kg – or 185lbs. We don’t generally do just ‘lbs’ in the UK – it’s either Stone (an archaic way of basically saying ‘lbs’, but they have to make it more complicated) or KG (the NHS weighs one in KG). Growing up in Australia I was used to using KG, but about 10 years ago I was on a health kick and followed a lot of American fitness guys, so lbs became second nature to me.

Why 85kg? When I was 22ish, I was in a band and playing drums for hours a week, and lost a shitload of weight. I remember getting down to roughly 85kg. At 6’1″ (again with the mix of metric and imperial…) (or 185cm) I should have been quite slim – but I wasn’t muscular so still felt fat. But it was a healthy size.

So I’ve decided that’s my goal: 185lbs (or 85kg), and this blog is going to document my journey.

Weekly check-ins, weekly photos, weekly weigh-ins, and regular updates on how Mounjaro is going for me: side-effects, non-scale-victories, and more.

Thanks for joining me.
